Good Manners & Emailing

Now that we have been getting more into the habit of communicating and sending assignments by email, I wanted to post some of the rules for basic email "etiquette"--basically, how to have good manners when it comes to sending an email. This list was taken from the website, www.emailreplies.com.

What are the etiquette rules?

7. Do not attach unnecessary files
8. Use proper structure & layout
9. Do not write in CAPITALS
10. Read the email before you send it
11. Do not overuse Reply to All
12. Take care with abbreviations and emoticons
13. Be careful with formatting
14. Do not forward chain letters
15. Do not request delivery and read receipts

Homework for this weekend

Prepare for the oral presentation you will give on your SSR book.

You will all present on Tuesday.

You must present the following information
  1. Title and author of your book
  2. Give a brief summary of the plot of your book.
  3. Describe who the main character is.
  4. Choose 1 of the quotes from your poster to explain.
  5. Would you recommend this book to others? Why or why not?
You can bring notecards to refer to while you are presenting. However, your goal should be to maintain eye contact with your audience and be sincere in what you are telling them.

Write out your presentation on paper and bring to class on Monday.

Completing your Poster for Book Project 1

Use a search engine like www.google.com to find images that you might add to your Book Project Poster. Some of you might not need any, but take about 20 minutes to do so if you do need more images.

Save the images to your email. Send me the email with the images you want printed, and I can do that at lunch today.

You will all present your posters on Tuesday, 10/26.

You will have time to practice on Monday, 10/25.

Welcome!

Assignment #11:Sign up to join the class blog by Friday, 10/22.
Thanks!
